Ils partirent au matin certains dans la nuit
Mesurant les distances en pipée d’tabac
D’la frontière des États ou d’la Yamaska
À cheval ou à pied tous dans les même pas

Un autre mois d’octobre et de dérangement
Comme si le froid nous aidait à prendre le mors aux dents

Ces gens de tous métiers venant d’six comtés
Ils étaient assemblés quand elle fut levée
La colonne érigée pour la liberté
Et ses fils réunis projet d’égalité

Canadiens, Irlandais aussi des Anglais
Dénonçant l’attitude des nobles d’Angleterre
Dans les quatre-vingt-douze résolutions
Trouvèrent autant d’raisons de faire la rébellion

La tête de son Parti son représentant
Faisait bouger les choses dans le Parlement
Ses idées mises à prix ont pendu ses gens
Mais ils ne sont pas morts face au pied du courant.

Canadians, Irishmen, some Englishmen too
Denouncing the attitude of England’s noblemen
In ninety-two resolutions that provided
As many reasons to rebel

The head of its Party, its representative
Was pushing issues forward on Parliament Hill
Its ideas, wanted, got its people killed
But they didn’t die down by the river.
